Board Workshop/Public Forum - April 10, 2025
A board workshop was called to order by Board President Kirby Marquart at 6:01 p.m. in the Junior High gym.
Members present were; Kirby Marquart, Dan Knebel, Chad Wolfensperger, Kim Fettkether, Liz Downs.Others present were Superintendent Kory Kelchen, Secondary Principal Hannah Corbin, Elementary Principal Patty Foster, and several visitors.
Summary of the discussion: The Board held an open forum for the public to ask questions or give comments regarding the possibility of switching to a 4 day school week calendar. Summary of a few items discussed include: the school day would be extended by 8 minutes per day, maintaining the school board minimum of 1100 hours per year; staff recruitment/retention, staff pay, potential daycare options to be provided through the school or outside entity, scheduling, staff work schedules, research on the 4-day schedule, before/after school care options, and culture/climate of the building.
